I probably won't be able to quit this board cold turkey, but after this week I don't expect to be posting regularly. So, it's been nice knowing you, imaginary people. Taking questions etc.
BTW, I will probably continue to monitor rk982@yahoo.com for a while, if anyone has any interesting advice-related questions for me.

I'm hispanic? I guess I wouldn't expect a terd-eater to realize I am using an athlete's name. Have fun getting picked last in gym class and then eating football terds.

They're all high-quality, and all jockeying to be feeders. Sack and Sotomayor have probably made the biggest names for themselves so far (as clerk magnets and feeders, not as judges), while Jacobs is probably the least likely to feed, but they're all reasonably close. Raggi is in Brooklyn, which might be annoying. Sotomayor is perhaps less pleasant to clerk for than the others, though reviews are mixed.

If Sexpert and Hanna can post while clerking, then them. Fiver is brilliant and knowledgeable but doesn't post much. Oh, and Renada is great, although he's more of an aphorist than a real advisor.

Best o' luck. I hate to see an old-timer go, although having "retired" about 15 times myself I fully expect to see you around next Wednesday at the latest.

Very possibly. Really, I'm just going to stop posting at work, and I'm going to be at work a lot, so I don't really want to spend my free time posting. But that doesn't mean I won't.

Probably not, for the same reasons you mentioned. I've never posted from a firm and don't expect to in the future, and I suspect I won't have a lot of free time to troll the board. I won't formally retire, I probably just won't be around very much.

I can understand the urge. You certainly deserve some credit for giving out sound advice for god only knows how many years. ;) How long have you been here, anyway? I think you were here before me...
Callback at a totally reach firm. I found out i interviewed with the hiring partner on campus and for some reason he liked me; sat at his table at a subsequent dinner, made him laugh, etc.
How much does this help at my callback; or will i eventually get PWNED. Grades are good enough so those presitge whores won't feel like compromising thier lofty principles. At the same time no slam dunk. i need so extra support
as long as i get to go out on the weekends and try and hook up with chicks i don't care. i'll do anything during the week and love it. Right now i love law and law school coz i've been hooking up consistently. In January i hated it--long dry streak.
mostly juniors/seniors. the crowd that were freshmen when i was a senior.
also, i am getting into the 25-30 range. something more to talk about then the staple " Oh my god! Did you hear, Jane got a tatoo of a spider on her butt."
ok. tan. tall enough. crazy unwashed mohawk type spiky hair. last week i hooked up with a hot chick who told me my features blend perfectly. my ego is really hight from that right now.
but i suspect i will get shot down tonight by some mediocre skank returning my self-esteem back to normal.
be polite, smile, compliment, buy drinks (lots), make them talk about thier dreams and play the odds...go after every single girl at the place; but do it in a classy way.
also, and i should be telling myself this, dont get too wasted.

The hiring partner rarely has all *that* much control over who gets hired, but this is obviously a good thing. I don't know what you want me to say beyond that.

I take it that your SCOTUS clerkship search didn't pan out, since you're working for a firm this coming year. Did you at least get some interviews? Are you applying or planning on reapplying to the SCOTUS at some point in the future?

I don't really remember having any classes that I loved. I liked Tax; Fed Courts was interesting; my Crim prof was pretty good, but nothing really sticks out.
I don't know. Usual 90s-alternative stuff, Pixies and Pavement and so forth.

I cared enuf to let this guy know that nobody fucking cares. He's stupid. This guy's been posting here forever and he's a fucking nobody. He never says anything really interesting he's just a fucking drone.
He may be somewhat helpful to law people and shit b/c he can give generic recycled advice every body and their mother can give, but otherwise he's just a huge tool.
Date: September 23rd, 2005 11:59 PM Author: Claret sweet tailpipe
Like I said, he's a troll who says the same shit over and over again. I don't know anything about his law school achievements, maybe he graduated in top 10%, 5% or something. But shit, hundreds of people do that every year in the top 6-8 schools. Otherwise, he's really nothing special. As an example of his toolishness, he's always saying the same shit about PE and IB, and nothing that he says is anything that you can't get from reading the Vault guide or something. He offers no original perspective or no original thinking. Simply put, he's just your standard white boy.

I don't know anything about him personally, although it seems pretty clear he's a 2004 grad of HLS.
But I don't give a fuck about where he went to school or how well he did. He's always given spectacularly helpful answers to questions about law school, clerkships, and biglaw.

Like what circuits are more or less competitive for obtaining clerkships, which judges are feeders, what sequence of courses someone looking to do tax law should take, etc.

like i said, he may offer helpful ls/ law career advice, but my feeling is that nothing he says here is anything you can't get from some other easy to get source, like a fucking classmate sitting right next to you or something. but whatever, i mean i really can't relate so i can see why you would say that. i've been interested in other things and people who were boring otherwise have offered great advice about careers, so good for you, and him.
