Student Senator Ashley Vasquez, for instance, complained that Spanish "does not represent the entire immigrant community here" during a post-speech Q&A, asking Loh if he would like to apologize for repeating his promise in Spanish.
Vasquez later told The Diamondback that she found Loh's use of Spanish offensive because it implied that the only immigrants on campus are "Latinx."

Hello! My name is Ashley Vasquez and I am rising sophomore at The University of Maryland- College Park! I am pursuing a double major in Sociology and Government & Politics with a possible minor in Global Terrorism. This past semester, I was selected to be a Resident Assistant and it was an incredible blessing. But, because of my position my financial aid was rescinded. I was not alerted of the financial change until July of 2015. Therefore, I have created this fund to help purchase my books for this semester. Most of my classes require new editions and/or online webcodes which can be expensive. Any donation is greatly appreciated and God Bless you! |
