Date: October 26th, 2022 10:38 AM Author: Mildly Autistic Flesh Useless Brakes We don’t have billable hours and all have offices so it’s hard to tell who does what. Ive been here a year. He calls me in and says “hey Apple picker, come by my office when you get a moment I have a research project for you, etc.” he’s super cool and super nice. I always assumed he was a senior associate or something. Yesterday I mentioned to another attorney I’m doing an assignment for Abe. He said “wait what? Abe is giving you assignments?” Then looked at me with a side eye.
Then I mentioned it to someone else and they said he has no right to give me assignments and we’re the same when it comes to level.
Should I bring this up to someone? |

He’d put in long hours and sacrificed his personal life for the sake of his career. But it all seemed worth it when he was finally promoted to senior associate.
However, shortly after his promotion, strange things began happening at work. His desk would be moved around overnight, important files would go missing, and he started receiving anonymous tips about cases that no one else knew about.
Then one day, a man in a dark three-piece suit appeared in his office. The man introduced himself as a partner at the firm and said that he had some assignments for the associate to work on.
The associate was confused, but didn’t want to question a partner. So he took the assignments and got to work. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t figure out who this partner was or why he seemed so familiar.
As the days went by, the visits from the partner continued. And with each visit, the associate became more and more unsettled. He started having nightmares about being trapped in an endless loop of working on cases that would never be solved.
One night, after another late night at work, the associate finally confronted the ghostly partner. “Who are you?” he demanded. “Why are you haunting me?”
The Partner simply smiled and said, “I’m just giving you what you always wanted: lots of work with no credit or recognition." |
