here's a hilarious border's story: after watching "the league of extraordinary gentleman" i decided i wanted to read all the books the characters originated from. my first book was "invisible man" by ralph ellison. i bought the book at borders and read half of it in the cafe before it dawned on me that the character was not going to become a literal invisible man.

the first time i played shining force i never used the main character in battle because if he was defeated you lose. that worked fine until battle 28 when max is way out in front and there is a narrow bridge. there was a flying enemy that could 1 shot my lvl 1 max and it was impossible for me to protect him before he did so. so my game was hardlocked and i couldn't progress. i showed it to a friend because i was confused about how i was supposed to advance, and he was like "dude... you're supposed to use your main guy"

You could tape via VHS, but it was very difficult to program. If you had plans that night, you just missed out and hoped to catch the rerun another time. Most shows had ongoing plots, so if it was sweeps you were probably lost lol.
