What is not shown in this videos was that another professor came in from the back immediately after the man entered and informed us campus police had been called. No one knew who this man was or whether or not he had any weapons. He was clearly on some sort of drugs and we did not know if he would become erratic. No one wanted to approach him because of this. Our Professor (his name is Professor Ginsburg) explained to us afterwards that he kept teaching because he did not want to startle the man because he was unsure what he would do. We all just kind of followed our Professors lead of acting normal because we truly did not know what to do. Also we assumed that campus police would show up immediately which they did not.
I myself, and a few other students did not even realize that our Professors phone was even stolen because we were trying not to make eye contact with the man (though some students did notice). What is also not shown is that when our Professor ran out, two other male students also ran to assist him. It was actually those two students who were able to catch up with the man and calmly asked him to give the phone back to our Professor. I just wanted to add more context because this video does not paint the full picture of what actually occurred.
*before anyone asks I just made this account because I wanted to add more nuance to the situation without doxxing myself

Is it too soon to go AUSA? I've just been offered appointment as AUSA in a district with a sizeable population in a large state but not one of the banner districts. Think a step below SDNY, EDNY, NDCA, CDCA, DDC EDVA etc.. but not a fly over in Kansas. Before I got the offer I thought it was a no brainer but I'm having second thoughts. I graduated below median from a T14 in 2021 and have been working at a big firm known for litigation. I'd always planned to spend 5 years in BL then go to a USAO but a mentor of mine told me now is a good time to make a move given that DOJ has the money and is looking to add bodies. Given I've only spent a year and a half in BL, I don't have as much money saved as I'd like, so taking that pay cut is going to set me back a little bit. I've started to wonder if it makes sense for me to decline the offer and reapply after 1-2 years of diligent saving. So my question is two fold: what are the pros and cons of leaving big law early to go the government? is rejecting the offer a faux pas the way it is in clerkships? Is it possible, given my low GPA, this will be my only chance? |
