The interior of Alaska has absurdly high rates of rape, murder, domestic abuse, negligent and manslaughter-ish homicides, etc. Life is horrible there and many decades of intergenerational exploitation and in some cases abandonment by indigenous leadership and corporate interests has caused the communities to deteriorate to an absurd degree. People have no concept of how shitty and brutal it is.
