A lot of them managed to put up a decent fight for a day or two, but once Israel got the upper hand and started pushing them back they would panic and run en masse. Was surprised how hard some of them fought at least for a while though.

Arabs getting blown out by CHAD

https://muse.jhu.edu/pub/29/article/40924

Arab military forces have been effective only in static combat situations, lapsing into ineptitude and defeat when confronted with more dynamic opponents like Israel, the United States, Iran, and even Chad.

The Israelis were very complimentary of the fight the Jordanians put up in Jerusalem and the Syrians did in the initial assaults on the Golan Heights in 1967. They killed hundreds of Israeli troops, including elite paratroopers.

But an orderly retreat doesn't seem to be part of the Arab soldier's mentality. Once they started moving backwards, it almost always turned into a rout- including with the same soldiers who had just fought bravely in their fixed positions.

LOL at this Russian diplomat:

To back up their threat, Chuvakhin stormed into Eban’s office and, his voice trembling, announced that, “in light of the continued aggression by Israel against the Arab states, and the flagrant breach of the Security Council’s resolutions, the USSR government has decided to break diplomatic relations with Israel.” Eban, improvising his response, acknowledged the bitter differences between Israel and the Soviets, but reasoned that such differences necessitated a strengthening—rather than severing—of ties. “If there was complete harmony,” he said. “it would only be a question of cocktail parties.” Chuvakhin lowered his tone and replied, “What Your Excellency is saying is logical, but I haven’t been sent here to be logical. I have come here to tell you about the rupture of relations.” Then, to the foreign minister’s astonishment, the Soviet ambassador burst into tears. A scapegoat for the Soviets’ failure in the Middle East, Chuvakhin would soon be ousted from the foreign service and exiled to Siberia.

I did a deep dive on Arab armies and it turns out that this has been normal for many, many generations. Their officer positions are handed out based on political power and influence and if things look bad they run. Once they run their troops run too, especially since once the officers are gone no one will help them and they'll be written off as dead.

This is generally the accepted position on the topic

Regardless, the IDF of today is not the IDF of the crucible years and most of the real steel (Soviet emigres, European zionists) amongst the IDF is no longer in it and the battle doctrine has changed substantially to a very media-aware and casualties-shy 5GW model with probably some of the least ethical "rules of engagement" regarding 5GW that I've ever had the misfortune to witness out on the walls of the world

Israelis should listen more to the Haredi/ultra-Ortho opinions on the topic imo, I personally have found them enlightening, but as I understand it Netanyahu has participated in their sidelining via the UTJ split in the greater conservative coalition

I think long term the Israelis totally fucked because a) they're losing support in the US and have already lost it in the rest of the world, b) I agree that the quality of people there is declining (the best people leave) and c) a lot of what they have built up is VERY susceptible to shit like drones (this is already causing them to get bogged down in S. Lebanon).

"Israelis should listen more to the Haredi/ultra-Ortho opinions on the topic imo"

You mean the guys that don't serve in the military?

"as I understand it Netanyahu has participated in their sidelining via the UTJ split in the greater conservative coalition"

Idk much about this internal struggle, but I read that the guy who is going to replace Bibi is even more against these groups. If I were Israeli I would absolutely hate them (they're a huge drain on everything and contribute very little, plus they're very entitled). Most ridiculous videos coming out of Israel (spitting on nuns, some crazy settlers attacking kids, etc.) all involve these groups. They also breed like rabbits while being poor and dumb, which I think is a major factor in the demographic upheaval in Israel.

Iran just lucked into the intersection between the drone era and the vulnerability of the Persian Gulf oil installations. That's what is forcing the Gulf states to bend the knee to Iran- not any particular fighting skill on the part of Persians.
