Instead of calling the police, Cinzia Dal Pino got into her SUV, chased the thief down, and ran him over multiple times.
She then got out, retrieved her bag from the ground, and drove away, leaving him dying on the pavement.
The victim, 52-year-old Noureddine Mezgui, later died in hospital from internal injuries.
In June 2026, a court in Lucca convicted her of voluntary homicide and sentenced her to 18 years (to be served under house arrest).
