I'm sad to see things turned out this way with the panel. I was unaware that DOS had made this decision until late this afternoon and was very surprised. Althouse was also disinvited. I went in and did my best to make it even and prevent the disinvitations, but to no avail. I have repeatedly expressed concerns about ReputationDefender's motives and Fertik's personality/communication style in general and likelihood to use the forum to self-promote, and they seemed to acknowledge this problem and the importance of neutralizing it. Ultimately, it looks like Fertik won out because he's an alum and has faculty ties. For what it's worth, DOS also said that they wanted to make it a broader issue and not focus on AutoAdmit and RepDef (and I'll need to add a few lines to the Wiki to the extent). I've also asked that it be taped so that it can be posted on-line afterwards. |
